What is emotional intelligence?
Emotional Intelligence is the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions effectively in ourselves and in others. An emotional competence is a learned capability based on emotional intelligence that contributes to effective performance at work.
Emotional Competencies Assessment
The Korn Ferry Emotional Competency Inventory (ECI) measures 12 competencies organized into four clusters: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Management. Although each of the ECI competencies are important, you may not have to master every one to be successful. Depending on your situation, there is a combination of competencies you can use to be effective. In this report you will see suggestions of competency combinations that have been shown to lead to success.
What are leadership styles?
Korn Ferry defines leadership styles as the pattern of behavior an individual leader or manager uses across the full range of leadership situations. Of all the variables that impact the effectiveness of the work climate and the discretionary effort put forth by the group, leadership style has the biggest impact. The breadth of a leader’s repertoire of styles determines his or her effectiveness. Leaders gravitate toward styles that feel “natural” to them, and may limit themselves to only those styles that come naturally. What feels “natural” is largely determined by the leader’s individual competencies.
Inventory of Leadership Styles Assessment
The inventory of leadership styles (ILS) helps you understand leadership from the point of view of those being led. It gives leaders what they need to make choices in their leadership behavior and offers clear ‘next steps’ for development. Effective leaders create climates which drive execution and encourage innovation. They engage people in the organization’s strategic objectives, winning their commitment and willingness to go ‘above and beyond.’ Such leaders use a collection of distinct leadership styles – each in the right measure, with the right people, at just the right time. They adapt to situations and roles as they change. It’s a demanding process, but it’s how effective leaders deliver results; in revenue, profit, execution and retention.
What is organizational climate?
Korn Ferry defines organizational climate is employees’ perception of those aspects of their environment that directly impact how well they can do their jobs. Numerous Korn Ferry research studies have found a direct link between the Organizational Climate and an organization’s performance. Organizational Climate is the closest thing to a profit-and-loss statement of how well a company manages its people. Organizations that are high performing have climates with very specific and measurable characteristics.
Organizational Climate Assessment
The Organizational Climate Survey (OCS) is the most recent version of a survey originally developed at the Harvard Business School. Unlike attitude surveys that cover a range of issues, the OCS concentrates on the six dimensions of organizational climate that have consistently demonstrated the greatest direct effect on individual and work-unit performance.
